Our client, a highly respected and long established poultry business with operations across Kenya, is seeking a highly experienced and professional Hatchery Manager for a new build site producing in excess of 500,000 day old chicks per week. The state of the art unit will produce chicks for both broiler and layer farms within the wider company and for sale to other enterprises across the region. The role would offer. High level of autonomy but with obvious accountability and the successful candidate would report directly to the  company’s senior management and board of directors. A proven track record in a similar role is a must, as is a passion for the poultry sector within Africa. The successful candidate will fully recognise that production of a viable, healthy day old chick is the very foundation of a profitable bird, be it for the broiler or the layer farm and will embrace the responsibility of the task. Alongside these fundamentals, the successful candidate will be protocol and systems driven, ensuring strict biosecurity, maintenance programmes and record keeping are adhered to. They will be a strong communicator able to converse with directors above them and inspire the team under their charge.  Experience in a similar role, in a similar environment and culture is essential and alongside the obvious business and management skills in this sector, the ability to live and work in the developing world and away from your home country, knowing and dealing with the challenges this can bring, is a must. In return for your efforts we offer a competitive salary and benefits package and the opportunity to join a highly respected business on their latest innovative project.
