You will be a strong General Manager, Managing Director or Commercial Director with experience of brand management in the retailing sector of all animal feed products. You will be looking to establish yourself in a long-term career position. Reporting to and working with a Board of Directors, you will have a team of experienced sector managers and your role will be to inspire and support them while driving synergy in all parts of the business.

This company is based in South East England, and is a major manufacturer of brand leading products sold via wholesale and retail customers in UK and international markets. This role is available as part of succession planning and supported by a handover with the current Managing Director.

Managing Director Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the company's commercial strategies in line with the Board of Directors' objectives for the business.
  • Provide strategic and operational advice to the Board.
  • Ensure that the highest standards of financial management and control are in place.
  • Monitor and maintain corporate governance requirements.
  • Prepare and implement comprehensive business plans for all divisions of the company.
  • Agree growth and profitability objectives with the Board.
  • Manage and develop cost-effective operations and drive market development opportunities.
  • Build long-term trusting relationships with shareholders, customers, business partners and wider external organisations.
  • Lead the management team, providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance while maintaining a positive and engaged work environment.
  • Ensure performance appraisal, training and professional development procedures are in place

Qualifications and requirements

  • Previous experience as a Managing Director or General Manager in a highly professional, customer and market focussed organisation.
  • Demonstrable success in achieving profitable and sustained growth in previous roles, ideally within Livestock feed, Equine and/or other animal feeds, Pet food, agricultural product wholesaling and retailing.
  • Relevant degree in addition to continued professional development.
  • Hands on experience of developing strategic and business development plans.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Good computer, quantitative, qualitative, and analytical skills.
  • Live within a commuting distance of their HQ
